Frequently Asked Questions for New Hires
In compliance with applicable New York and New Jersey State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) is mandatory for all MSK employees, contingent workers, and volunteers. Exceptions are permitted for those employees who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption.
*Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.
Note: Individuals are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster five months after receiving the second dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or two months after the J&J vaccine.
New hires who have been vaccinated outside of MSK will be informed during the onboarding process how they can upload proof of vaccination.
The MSK onboarding team will reach out with instructions to schedule your vaccination appointment. As a new hire, you will only need to have received your first dose to begin employment, the second dose will be scheduled at that time.
No, this is an Institutional Policy and there will be no exceptions outside of qualifying exemptions.

Qualifying Medical Exemptions:
Employees will need a licensed medical provider to complete the request for medical exemption form for the COVID-19 vaccine. Reasons for medical exemption may include: Allergy, Physical/Medical circumstance that immunization is not considered safe. Medical exemptions are designated permanent or temporary based on the associated medical condition.
In considering an exemption request, MSK reserves the right to require additional documentation.
